'The Vow'

Here is a new short story for this website, although it was written a while ago. 'The Vow' is a love story, plain and simple. It's based on a Greek myth called 'Cupid and Psyche' (also known as 'Eros and Psyche'). Cupid is not the little cherub we see on Valentines day. He's the winged god of passion and beauty. He makes the mistake of falling in love with a mortal who's name is Psyche. The myth is quite complicated involving pain, trials, and of course passion. In the end Psyche is brought into the realm of the gods and it is from her that we take the name of our human consiousness or self-awareness. Some critics believe that this story is about the transformation of the primitive human mind into a mind with purpose, and if you need to know more you can google "Cupid and Psyche'.
This story is not so lofty. It's quite simply a romance!
